Cyberbu//y - Starring Emily Osment

This movie, Cyberbully, was a great movie in my opinion. It was a moving, touching, and inspiring movie about a girl who was bullied online by her peers who didn't like her. It was sad in some parts; Taylor, the girl starring in the movie, lost all her friends at one point and was bullied by even her own best friend. In the end, Taylor got help with her problems and support groups really made her realize she should stand up for herself. When done, Taylor was praised by her friends and peers for standing up to the number one bully in the school. Eventually, a law was passed on cyberbullying in her hometown and everything went back to normal in her life. Similarities to the movie and things we talked about in class include how some people really are hurt by the words bullies say and end up trying to kill themselves. In the movie, Taylor tried overdosing on pills to kill herself. Differences in the movie and things we talked about include how in the movie, people stood up for Taylor in front of her bully (at the end of the movie), but in real life, most people don't stand up for anyone who is bullied and that's why they end up trying to physically harm themselves. This case was similar to the Megan Meier case we talked about in class. I think the movie was based off of the case except they changed some of the outcomes in the movie. Overall though, great movie!!!

Blabberize & Voki

To create 2 avatars, one of myself and one of Kid Cudi (a famous person), I like Blabberize better. The reason why, is because it was much easier to use, step by step. In Voki, I had to tweak and correct my avatar over and over to make it more like myself; whilst on Blabberize I uploaded a picture, adjusted the mouth, and recorded what I needed to say. How much more simple does that get? I could use this in other class for possibly a powerpoint in history to make a famous person of history speak out loud in my voice. That would be cool.

Online Safety

The most important prospect of protecting yourself online is probably not posting pictures of yourself of social networks, using good netiquette, hiding your privacy settings, and using common sense online. When you're using the internet, you need to be safe and cautious. Not everyone online is who they say they are. Also, people always will want to make younger children their prey on the internet so watch out for creeps! Practice proper netiquette. Have fun. :-)

Tracking Teresa

I watched a video on "Tracking Teresa". The main point is that you should be careful about what you put online about yourself, even if you think you're being careful. Teresa gave out personal information including her name, Teresa, phone number, and email. These all were able to associate to us finding out her family members' names, where she lives, how to get there, where she goes to school, and what time she is usually home on weekdays. Unfortunately, I make bad choices on the internet sometimes, and I've put personal information on the internet about myself before. The most important thing to remember while using the internet is to always think that people can easily get your information on the internet about you and we should always be careful about what we do online!
